GIVING

GIVE of your wealth to any in need,
Do not become a slave to greed.
GIVE of your substance to feed the poor,
Yield to compassion and motive pure.
GIVE not just the excess but where it hurts,
And with regularity, not in spurts.
GIVE without expecting recognition or fame,
To cause the receiver embarrassment or shame.
GIVE so that others do not see your gift,
Be sure your motives you carefully sift.
GIVE without keeping running accounts,
And in proportion to incoming amounts.
GIVE back to the Lord, for it is His due,
He's showered His blessings and favor on you!
GIVE to others as you have been given,
Not out of duty should you be driven.
GIVE because God has instructed you to,
He's promised your "barns" will be full if you do.
GIVE to lay treasure in Heaven, not earth,
For this is the only place it has worth.
GIVE by inviting folk to your table,
With thanksgiving to God that you are able.
GIVE of your time for kindly deeds,
Planting bountifully love's fruitful seeds.
GIVE loving advice to those who would ask,
To share God's Word is a heart-warming task.
GIVE of your self in all that you do,
You grow in your faith and personality, too.
GIVE of your best, not counting the cost,
For it may be the means of winning the lost.
GIVE of your money, your time and your love,
Pleasing your Heavenly Father above!
