The Way II - Who was Christ? by Rev. James Fabert, DD Click here for more details.
One of the things Jesus said puzzled me for a long time: "Before Abraham was, I am." I started a search for evidence of this truth, for He doesn't lie, but many translators have been involved, so some discrepancy is possible. After more years than I can count, I had corroboration: Christ was here in spirit long before He came here in body. Throughout the history of the world, through all cultures; the evidence is clear: the oldest recorded spiritual teaching started in the Indus valley of ancient Hindustan. Simultaneously, it cropped up throughout the East. Tibet, Japan and China. I looked further into other areas: Native Americans, Australia, South America. But, most especially - Persia. The Magis. The Sufis, The Jewish nation in the formerly secret Kaballah. I can't express how excited I was at solving this ancient mystery. Here was near incontrovertible proof. The ancient schools and the teaching had one common name: The Way. After all these centuries, all the language differences; all the perceptions of various mystics throughout history; they were all perceiving variants of the same message: This is The Way of Life. Like looking at the Divine symmetry in a leaf. The Christ was, is and has always been. He continues His influence to this day. Suddenly, new teachings; new coursework is cropping up. First, A Course in Miracles. Now, Conversations with God. Modern day mystics are coming out of the woodwork; Father Thomas Merton, Richard Bach, so many appearing in India, and Tibet with the Dalai Lama. I could make a larger list, but you are getting the idea. "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." The promise is fulfilled, and continues to be fulfilled. The Christ is an awareness, a consciousness of what is right, and good; and love. He is not coming back as one physical person. He is returning in the heart of us all. "For you will do more than I have ever done." What an incredible legacy. If you do not see the hand of God in this, I feel sorry for you. When Jesus was asked who God was, He replied: "God is Love. Love Him with all your heart, and mind and soul." It truly shines through our existence here on this ultimate school grounds - Earth. Despite our hatred, our wars, our pestilence and plagues and disasters; Love remains as the only true reality. We are here in this school to learn love, and this will bring us home.
