18:47:54 [Dreamwords] Listening to the conference has changed my thinking this week and I've been more positive yesterday and today.

18:49:46 [marniep] These tools really make a difference... it just takes some practice to consciously control your thoughts. I definitely don't have it mastered yet.

18:49:50 [Dreamwords] Oh, yes, and Hurricane Ivan -- there have been so many things. The greatest blow is dh lost his job 7-1/2 weeks ago.

18:50:07 [marniep] But when I do focus on the positive I can tell a huge difference in the results in my life.

18:50:52 [marniep] As a friend of mine says, when everything starts to hit you, get excited cause something fantastic is just around the corner.

18:52:17 [Dreamwords] In a way, all of this "bad" is good, because it gives me empathy for others.

18:52:39 [Dreamwords] Well, there have been attacks, but then there are so many blessings, too, like the children (we have 4) are healthy, etc.

18:53:48 [marniep] Within every negative situation, there's an equal and opposite good. If something's a little bad there's a little good inside it. If it's catastrophic, there's something fantastic inside it.

18:54:21 [MICHELLEGO] Yeah!

18:54:26 [marniep] My husband lost his job about 15 years ago and when he got a new one, he made about half what he did before. As a result, I started a home business... one thing led to the other and I've developed friendships, talents and all kinds of things that I never would have, had he not lost that job.

18:54:55 [marniep] I am extremely grateful that it all happened the way it did, because I feel truly blessed in ways that money will never be able to buy.

19:00:24 [marniep] The main thing that really struck me as I was preparing this class was that these "laws" are a natural "next step" for you when you start trying to live your divine destiny.

19:01:47 [marniep] Back in 2001 I wrote "10 Steps to Fulfilling Your Divine Destiny" and then shortly thereafter, I met Leslie Householder and she started teaching me the laws. I can see now that the Lord was saying, "Here, this is what I want you to do" and then Leslie came along and taught me "how"

19:02:52 [marniep] I think I got a little sidetracked after I learned the laws and forgot the reason he wanted me to learn them... I started experimenting and went through sort of a learning/experimentation phase. And now I feel like He's taking me back and saying... ok, REMEMBER your destiny? That's what I want you

19:02:54 [Lori] I've felt called to be a writer since I was a little girl....put it on hold when I pursued the wrong major in college, then to be just a mother for several years..now that I have all that more under control, I'm feeling a VERY strong call to go back to writing. I want to help others, particularly

19:02:57 [marniep] to apply these laws to.

19:03:18 [Lori] mothers of little ones. I'm trying to use what you're saying in this conference because I TRULY feel that God is the one leading me.

19:04:20 [marniep] Then run with it Lori! Just start writing... that's what I did. I wrote an article a week about 4 years straight

19:04:32 [marniep] and eventually it led into books

19:04:54 [marniep] and then the Lord started opening doors for me....

19:05:56 [Lori] I am not afraid of failure, maybe a little afraid of success, but mostly I hold back because I feel so unworthy of giving advice to anyone. Why would I think that I know so much that I could help someone else? Why would I reckon myself so highly?

19:06:25 [Lori] I think I hold back God when I say those things.

19:08:31 [Lori] Yes, I hear those. Along with, "If you can't even keep the house perfectly straight, how could you help someone?"

19:08:53 [marniep] God never tells you that you can't or that you're not good enough. He inspires you and lifts you to higher ground and lets you know you're SOMEBODY special in His eyes.

19:09:04 [Lori] Or, "If your children don't obey you, how do you expect to teach someone else about children?

19:09:18 [marniep] LOL oh, my word, if keeping a house clean was a criteria for helping people, I may as well just go hide in a hole!

19:10:23 [Lori] I do always feel that I can help someone after I "get it together" first.

19:10:47 [marniep] If you feel like you have something to say, just say it - write about it. Don't wait until you have it all together to write - that's the adversary again.

19:11:12 [marniep] People learn from your challenges and your mistakes... document them along the way. That's what I do and that's what people want to hear.

19:11:25 [Lori] Do the laws need to be done step by step - in order? How should they be started?

19:11:46 [MICHELLEGO] God uses each of us to impart His wisdom and His truths. We are just the vessel

19:11:46 [marniep] simultaneously. They all work together.

19:12:17 [Lori] I love to read those things, too. That's why a trial like we are in now is not all bad...I can help someone else who will go through it in the future.

19:12:35 [marniep] See the piece you may have mastered, Lori, could be the exact piece I'm missing. It doesn't matter if you have it "all together" - none of us do!

19:13:09 [marniep] document your way through it Lori and then you'll look back and learn so much from your own experience. We forget so much if it's not written down.

19:13:37 [marniep] Plus writing helps you activate the creative process... it helps you see things and tune into inspiration that you may not see, feel, or hear anyway else.

19:13:42 [Lori] How do you start with the laws without becoming overwhelmed by doing them all at once? (I don't' even know what the others are, or how many there are).

19:14:11 [Lori] I journal every day and learn so much from my own journals from years ago.

19:14:18 [marniep] there are 7 and they work together. They are more a way of "being" than "steps"

19:14:36 [marniep] that's great Lori!

19:15:18 [marniep] I used to keep a journal every day, but I'm not good at that anymore. So now my articles are almost like a spiritual journal of sorts. I can look back at an article and remember what happened that triggered the article and the "lesson" from it remains.

19:15:35 [marniep] I also keep a gratitude journal where I write down the things I'm grateful for and the things I'm grateful for ahead of time.

19:16:00 [Lori] When you found out what God wanted you to do, how did you start? I already know I should write, I journal, but I don't know in what direction He would lead me (although I'm positive it's not in fiction!! I'm really bad at that! )

19:16:42 [marniep] have you tried writing any articles? You could write some and put them up on SheLovesGod

19:17:25 [marniep] 10 Steps to Fulfilling Your Divine Destiny is basically a collection of articles that I wove together and added to to create that book.

19:17:43 [marniep] I could see a pattern in what the Lord was teaching me over a 2 year period and it distilled into those 10 steps.

19:18:19 [marniep] maybe something similar would work for you? But maybe not... pray about it. Tell the Lord you want to write and ask him for the words and then sit down and just start writing... let it flow and see what He gives you.

19:19:23 [marniep] To answer your question earlier about when I found out what God wanted me to do, how did I start?

19:19:32 [MICHELLEGO] I'm already excited to read your first article, Lori!

19:20:00 [marniep] I really didn't know what God wanted me to do. I just took it day by day and then woke up and saw where he'd led me.... and went "Wow, is this what You had in mind all along?"

19:20:14 [marniep] Just let Him lead you day by day and He'll take you where you need to go.

19:21:12 [marniep] when you start to catch a glimpse of the "big picture" - document it... because it comes in "flickers" that often disappear when the adversary strikes.

19:21:41 [marniep] Once you feel inspired with a "big picture" hold it in your mind, spend time visualizing and contemplating it. Be grateful for it ahead of time and express that gratitude in your prayers and in your journal.

19:22:53 [marniep] what about you, michelle? Have you gotten a glimpse of your "big picture?"

19:23:41 [MICHELLEGO] Yes, it has to do with working with youth

19:24:51 [MICHELLEGO] Yes, and I was a cheerleading coach while my girls were in school

19:25:50 [marniep] have you got a picture in your head of what you want?

19:26:56 [marniep] and then how do you encourage them?

19:27:04 [MICHELLEGO] Not very clear yet

19:28:03 [marniep] Leslie had me spend literally as many hours as i could for a week envisioning my "dream" and then had me write it down in detail in the form of a long gratitude statement.

19:28:06 [MICHELLEGO] To use the creativity God has given them to worship Him

19:28:41 [marniep] So things like music or art?

19:28:41 [LoriS] Does the gratitude and the gratitude journal really help that much? Why do you suppose?

19:29:00 [marniep] It helps IMMENSELY... and I'll explain why

19:29:27 [MICHELLEGO] Yeah, music, art, mime, etc

19:29:29 [marniep] It increases your faith... it raises your belief and your hope to a higher level - a level at which God has something to work with.

19:29:59 [marniep] you can't write and repeat that you are so happy and grateful that you have a particular blessing and not come to believe that it is on its way to you.

19:30:17 [marniep] You aren't convincing God by using a gratitude statement - you're convincing yourself.

19:30:32 [MICHELLEGO] Right

19:30:35 [LoriS] So you could, say, be grateful for being debt free before it happens?

19:30:41 [marniep] it's yourself that has the problem... not God. God knows anything is possible. It's us that needs the convincing.

19:30:57 [marniep] most certainly, and I'd avoid using the word debt in your gratitude statement.

19:35:07 [marniep] Figure out "what" you want... really think about it, try to visualize what you want from life ... what it would look like, feel like, sound like.

19:35:32 [marniep] Envision it, write it down in vivid detail and then ask the Lord if this is what He wants for you.

19:35:37 [LoriS] I have that... then what?

19:36:04 [LoriS] I know what He wants, too. I've spent the last 7 weeks seeking Him and His will.

19:36:06 [marniep] Do you have a confirmation from the Lord that that vision is what He wants for you?

19:36:12 [marniep] Fantastic!

19:36:28 [LoriS] Yes, I'm positive.

19:36:43 [marniep] Ok, then, take that vision and condense it down to something that will fit on an index card...

19:36:55 [LoriS] It's the starting that is so scary.

19:37:03 [marniep] Read that card as many times as you can the first day - 100 times out loud if you can.

19:37:05 [LoriS] Okay...

19:37:22 [LoriS] Okay.

19:37:30 [marniep] Then read it each day morning and night and carry it in your pocket so that every time you touch it, it reminds you of your vision.

19:37:47 [marniep] Pray each day what the Lord would have you do to accomplish your mission and act upon any prompting you receive.

19:37:54 [LoriS] Good.

19:38:03 [marniep] Any ideas that come to you as you read your statement, jot those down as you're reading them.

19:38:26 [marniep] Act upon any prompting you receive... no matter how seemingly insignificant.

19:38:32 [marniep] And you'll be on your way...

19:38:34 [LoriS] That sounds like a plan! I like having something to do instead of just "waiting."

19:43:33 [marniep] If you start to get a headache, feel tired, sleepy, irritable, etc... start taking note of what "feels" wrong in your statement and rework it until those feelings go away ... until you feel positive and excited about the statement.

19:43:41 [LoriS] How will it feel? Or why would I notice that?

19:44:47 [marniep] Well, I've done this before and set goals for things and they gave me a headache by about 25 repetitions... so I noticed the parts that made me uncomfortable, tweaked them and kept reading the rest of the way through... tweaking as I went through the 100 repetitions until I got something I felt good about.

19:44:58 [LoriS] Yes, okay. I'm very excited to start this. I just KNOW ...that God has something for me in the very near future. He has been working on me since 2000 very heavily.

19:45:23 [marniep] You want your subconscious to be on board with your goal and it sends you signals through your body in the form of feelings. Listen to it.

19:45:41 [marniep] Just a tweak in the wording can put your subconscious mind on board with your vision.

19:45:50 [LoriS] Do you do this for many things, or just one main thing in your life?

19:45:58 [marniep] Fantastic! I can't wait to hear how it all turns out for you!

19:46:18 [marniep] I use this a lot... I practice it... sort of like building up my faith muscles in small things.

19:46:42 [marniep] I've used it when my car broke down and I needed it fixed for a less than a certain amount.

19:47:09 [marniep] Any time I hit a snag or trouble in life, I get specific about what I want to have happen ... seek a confirmation and then start being grateful for it.

19:49:14 [marniep] I don't really use a gratitude statement - per se - as a prayer, but I do try to express sincere gratitude in my prayers so that they are more than a whine-fest or a gimme gripe session. But I don't repeat prayers like this. The gratitude statement is more for raising my own level of faith
